Lock SDT (Legacy)
This guide documents the legacy veSDT locking system. For background on veSDT utility, see the veSDT overview.
Prerequisites
- SDT tokens in your wallet
- Wallet connected to the Stake DAO app
Overview
Navigate to Lock SDT on the Stake DAO app. The page displays:
- veSDT incentives: Current rewards for veSDT holders
- Total SDT locked: Protocol-wide locked amount
- Total veSDT supply: Current circulating veSDT
- SDT price: Current market price
- Your boost: veSDT boost received or delegated
- Alternative yields: Delegation options for unused boost
Creating a Lock (Disabled)
Each address can have one active lock containing an amount of SDT and an unlock date.
veSDT is issued linearly based on lock duration:
1 SDT locked for 1 year = 0.25 veSDT1 SDT locked for 4 years = 1 veSDT
To create your first lock:
Select the Lock tabEnter the amount of SDT to lockSelect your lock duration (up to 4 years)Approve the contract (first time only)Confirm the lock transaction
Increasing an Existing Lock
If you already have a lock, you can increase your veSDT balance in two ways:
Adding More SDT
- Select the Increase Amount tab
- Enter the additional SDT amount
- Approve and confirm the transaction
The additional SDT inherits your existing unlock date.
Extending Lock Duration
- Select the Increase Duration tab
- Select a new unlock date (must be later than current)
- Confirm the transaction
This increases your veSDT balance without adding more SDT.
Delegating Boost (Legacy, No Longer Effective)
Historically, veSDT provided boost for sdToken voting power, and users with more boost than they needed could delegate the excess to another address or earn alternative yield from it. That delegation mechanism still exists on-chain but no longer has any effect on boost.
To get boost today, migrate to vlSDT and use the BoostMarketplace to buy or sell delegations instead.
